Molecular Biology... is the study of the macromolecules, especially the nucleic acids, involved in the processes of replication, transcription and translation of an organism's genetic material.
| | It is a subject closely related to - and overlapping in its interests with - both Genetics and Biochemistry. Molecular biology is also widely used to refer to the basket of techniques for manipulating DNA, which are now applied in all aspects of biology and medicine.
|
| “I myself was forced to call myself a molecular biologist because when inquiring clergymen asked me what I did, I got tired of explaining that I was a mixture of crystallographer, biophysicist, biochemist, and geneticist.” Francis Crick
